** Do not buy land in Irukandji without reading the covenant
in full.**
IRUKANDJI COVENANT You 3D Virtual Worlds, Australia
last amended 2 March 2011 1.27am AEST
At
this juncture, the SpotOn3D grid does not accurately report
covenants inworld, therefore the Irukandji Covenant is
online here.
The covenant contains the rules and guidelines for the
estate. The covenant will change from time to time with the
needs of the community but always at its core, is our wish
for everyone to enjoy their lives here. It works well
because the contents of the covenant are designed to protect
your rights.
The covenant is NOT optional. Irukandji is not
designed as a grand money making venture so let's keep it low
maintenance please. Lifestyle, nature, peace, and freedom
are the themes here and everyone is welcome if they respect
each other and act maturely. Aggressive behaviour, offensive
attitudes, or insults to or from any person, regardless of
sexuality, gender, race etc, will not be tolerated.
Drama queens in short doses too please.
At time
of writing, the Irukandji continent comprises ten sims.
Irukandji is an estate hosted on the SpotOn3D grid, but it
is privately owned and managed by Xay Thompson, representing
his RL company Keppel Net.
While my presence on the SpotOn3D
grid is new, I have a long history of running private
estates on other grids, particularly Second Life. You can
search my avatar's history there, which is Xay Tomsen. IRUKANDJI SNAPSHOT
Theme: South Pacific tropical kingdom Capital: Tamita Island (M) Info Centre: Irukandji Village
(PG) Residents Group: Irukandji Website:
www.you3d.com.auSIM RATINGS
There is
no such thing as an adult sim in SpotOn. Sim ratings are
kept simple - PG and M. With the exception of our landing
sim Irukandji Village which is PG, all other Irukandji sims
are rated M for Mature.
This means that only people who have
verified their age by subscribing to SpotOn's premium
membership via PayPal can enter. For residents, that means
less risk of griefing because attacks can be traced back to
real people, less invasion of privacy by wandering noobs,
and most importantly, no children posing as adults on mature
sims.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The owners of SpotOn3D
have asked me to convey to Irukandji Residents that when you
log in, choose the Veesome grid rather than the SpotOn3D
grid so you can set your block of land to "home".
Failure to do so will see you start in the PG landing area
instead.SIM TYPES
We
have two types of sim here: parcelled sims with 30K prims,
and normal sims with 15K. To keep things simple, every sim
in Irukandji that has "Island" in its name is a parcelled
sim (except Tamita Island). Every other sim is a standard
15K sim.
The downside of parcelled sims is that property
sizes are preset by SpotOn so that we stupid estate owners
don't blow out the 30K. I cannot give you more prims or
subdivide those parcels but they are jam-packed with prims.
The normal sims, I have the same flexibility as in SL. Most
normal sims have a prim bonus in place as well.BUYING LAND
Clicking
"Buy Land" will put the block in your name and no money will
change hands. HOWEVER, before you buy the block, you must
first subscribe to the tier for that address on the
land sales page of the You 3D website (except former residents of
Irukandji as outlined further down).
Make sure you choose
the EXACT address as shown in "About Land" for the block you
wish to buy, eg 1002 West Beach, Papeete Island. Once you
have subscribed, THEN click the "Buy Land" button. Anyone
found on a block without a subscription in place will be
evicted immediately and banned from Irukandji.
Tiers are due
on the same day each month as the day you signed up and
PayPal will take them from your account automatically until
you unsubscribe. Irukandji tiers will appear in your account
as a payment to Keppel Net. Any objects on the block when I
mark it up are purely for display. They will NOT transfer.
This is necessary as the objects are worth a great deal of
money and anyone could run around buying up all the blocks
and stealing our copyable or transferrable objects instead
of buying them through Synergy.EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE - PAST RESIDENTS
As promised some
time back, Irukandji would emerge again but on a different
grid. This is a fulfillment of that promise. As per notices
sent out on several forums, I make the offer to past
residents and associates from the old Irukandji on SL to
claim a plot without subscribing to a tier.
This offer is
designed to let you test out Irukandji on the SpotOn3D grid
for two weeks to see if you want to make a home here. The
estate is much smaller than the old one at this stage so
blocks are limited. It is first come, first served. Limit of
one block per key account for this opening offer (no alts
claiming blocks).
Find the block you want then "Buy Land",
then IM Xay Thompson (note different spelling of my name
here) with your SL av name and your SpotOn av name so I know
you're living here and I can add your name to the group. If
after two weeks you're happy to stay, subscribe to the tier
for that block. If not, abandon the land so I can make it
available to someone else. Please don't leave me guessing.
That's it - start living the life.ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR
PEOPLE NEW TO SPOTON
SpotOn is relatively new and not very
large at present but it's run by a good team who are trying
their best to provide a value for money experience. Some
things are different here so you need to get your head in a
different space: 1. At this stage there are no av-to-av
money transfers. If you want to buy something, you have to
use the Synergy marketplace. 2. Uploading textures, animations, and sounds is free.
3. Listing
products on Synergy is free. You pay a small commission when
you sell an item. There is not a huge amount of content yet
but it's increasing daily. Many content creators here though
are more than happy to do custom jobs at reasonable rates.
If you're creative, upload your stuff right now! 4. Tier
fees here are about a third of what you pay in the other
grid. 5. Instead of the messy segregation in SL of PG,
M, and adult sims, here it is simply PG or M. The only way
you can get into an M sim is if you have premium membership
with SpotOn which is $2.95 a month. You can have up to 5
alts with each key account. 6. Prims can be stretched to 256 x 256 metres
instead of 10 x 10. 7. You can import many objects (that you
created) from SL with the Phoenix viewer but I've found a
piece of software called Second Inventory a brilliant bit of
kit.
www.secondinventory.com 8. Unlike the other grid,
you can actually walk up to the owners of SpotOn here
in-world and talk to them face to face. No more waiting 2
weeks for a possible reply from concierge support. It really
is a great community and I hope you come to like it too. 9.
They don't have Havok, so vehicles are an issue. Latest whisper is that an
alternative is in the wind. 10. Tamita Island is being
designed as a creator's mecca. Free shop space in the
central palace is available to anyone with quality items to
sell. A creator's sandbox is also available. 11. The search
function is dodgy but it's a work in progress. Using
the land sales option yields dubious results. All
blocks for sale in Irukandji appear on the map as having a
yellow square over them just like SL. In this case
however, it's a prim square, not generated by the map. 12. Group
land doesn't show up as teal with the "View Land Owners"
function like it does in SL, nor do the $ signs over
properties on the map mean anything. 13. The SpotOn website is well ...
not good, except for logging into your key account and going
to Synergy. Again, a work in progress. I have set up the
Irukandji VW website as an alternative. Aside from
leasing sims from SpotOn3D however, we have no financial
association or business interdependency with them.RESIDENTS
CAN:
- Enjoy all the public parks, bays, & beaches free -
Rent out a private dwelling without asking - Invite friends
over who don't live in the estate (max 20 people per sim but
apparently this will double soon) - Add their
partner/lover/mother-in-law to the estate group - Ask to
swap/upsize/downsize their property - Ask for additional
prims where available (except on parcelled sims) - Ask for
terraforming (we don't allow residents to terraform) - Erect
TEMPORARY skyboxes and platforms above 1000 metres to build
on - Except on the PG sim Irukandji Village, clothing is
optional on public land. Nudity is fine, boners are not.RESIDENTS CANNOT:
-
Build a dwelling taller than 25 metres from ground level.
-
Denude land of foliage. Trees are nice. Grow some. - Use
"View Prims" to create rocks/islands etc beyond their
property lines. - Tick the "Full Bright" box for external
house textures. They glow for miles and ruin everyone's
view. - Build closer than 2m to the edge of their property
line - Have objects including trees and fences overhanging
lines without neighbour's consent - Operate a business that
has visible signage without consent. We'll find you a space
on Tamita Island. - Spam passersby with notes or ads - Use
security orbs or similar devices that extend/affect beyond
the exact limits of your house - Put up ban lines ** - Be a
child avatar, or have child avatars visiting *** - Set up
sex rugs or poseballs on public land except in designated
outdoor sex areas - Erect permanent skyboxes. Historically
this practice denudes the land below & looks hideous.
- Use the Irukandji group for spam.
*House designs and styles are
reasonably open but please keep them real. It is a Pacific
Island chain and no one wants to live next to a giant
mushroom or Gorean castle. (If there's enough demand I will set up
other themed estates). At the same time, let's keep the cheesy tiki
to a minimum, hey? ** We do not allow red lines or green
lines to be used against fellow Irukandji residents. Do not
tick the "limit access to" or "deny by ...." boxes in About
Land. If disputes involve a fellow resident, estate
management will mediate to find a solution and both parties
will accept our decision. *** We regard a child avatar as
any that appears under-developed eg unusually short and
gangly with little muscular definition, or acts out the role
of a child.
SELLING
LAND
The grid does not yet support av-to-av
land sales. This is why we charge you nothing to buy the
blocks we have for sale. If and when this changes, we will
allow land sales between residents and we will also start
charging for land ourselves. If at some stage you decide to
leave Irukandji, it is your responsibility to go to the land
sales page on the Irukandji VW website and cancel your
subscription. No refunds will be paid if you forget, as we
do not take back the land until you cancel your sub.VIEWS
We put a lot of
planning into the way the estate looks, however your view
may change to some extent at some time. We will do our best
to try to minimise view impacts but we cannot guarantee that
the view will stay exactly the same. It is reasonable to
assume however that your enjoyment of Irukandji not be
diminished by neighbours with intense lighting, strobes,
ambient sounds, eyesores etc. The estate holds land in all
Irukandji sims, and reserves the right to use that land
however it sees fit, however our goal is to keep the vast
majority of estate land for common use. Residents will be
required to remove any structures or objects that estate
staff view as an eyesore or inappropriate.
COMMON LAND
Or "public
land" or "estate owned land". This is any land or water on
any sim in Irukandji, not owned by Land Owners, roughly 1/2
of the estate. Irukandji Group members are granted free
access to this land including full access to the facilities
on Tamita Island.
DUMB
THINGS
No griefing, hippie pay, IM spam raids, survey
takers, autobots, or copybots. If you have ambient music or
chimes etc on your property, tick the "Restrict Spatialized
Sound" box in About Land so it doesn't annoy your
neighbours.
Repeated breaches of the covenant, failure to pay tiers, or
abusing, threatening, or malicious behaviour towards estate
staff, Land Owners, guests, or visitors, will result in an
estate ban. It's simple. Be nice to each other and everyone
will be happy.
FINAL WORDS
As you can see by all the above, Irukandji is well planned and managed,
and is without doubt the friendliest estate you'll find.
Everyone will try to help you if they can. If you have any
problems, queries, nuclear events, check the Resident Help
section or IM me. Enjoy your new
home. :)
Have a brilliant day,
Xay Thompson
